Baba Yaga
I’ve been binge watching “Making The Team” on CMT – of course I’ve been curious about the girls who didn’t make it or did make it and where are they now. What happened to the Chelsea girl who got cut because she got too heavy? What happened to the Long Island girl with the pretty Continue reading

Struggle Bus
It’s a struggle today to get out of bed. 3 days post chemo, and I woke up with the tank empty. I have to pick up the house today – hopefully the children will help but I still need to get out of bed. I find that if I change into clothing – anything besides Continue reading

Reflection
It’s 9:00am and I’m at a red light. I needed to pick up a jacket I bought for L. I look out the window to my red light and see people sleeping on the ground by the Wells Fargo. One of them is showering by the bench with baby wipes and the other two had Continue reading

Whole lotta nothing…
It was way too sunny this morning for my walk. I just cleaned and picked up the house. I regret however cracking the garage door and letting the breeze through as the dog has howled and barked at every leaf, stick or spec of dust. I took my chances today at making a bean salad Continue reading

Comme-ci comme ça
After years of studying French – this is how I am able to apply it. Applause. My friend G is in Montreal so I greeted her in French and it carried over to the blog. Last night was a painful sleep not only did S fall asleep next to me last night, she had the Continue reading

Remission
What does remission actually mean? According to Dr. Google: “Remission means that the signs and symptoms of your cancer are reduced. Remission can be partial or complete. In a complete remission, all signs and symptoms of cancer have disappeared. If you remain in complete remission for 5 years or more, some doctors may say that Continue reading

Round 3 Day 4
Of course the gas tank was at E and I had about 10 miles left on the tank. I had enough energy to put $15 in the tank and take myself to chemo. The sun was already blistering on my semi bald head so I had to get back in the car and get my Continue reading

Needles Oof
Yesterday was not a good chemo day at all. They couldn’t find a vein at the infusion center and had to send me to the hospital for radiology to insert PIV (peripheral IV via ultrasound). Then went back to the infusion center to find that the blood return was really minimal and I wouldn’t be Continue reading

Round 3
What exactly is bone marrow biopsy? “Bone marrow aspiration and bone marrow biopsy are procedures to collect and examine bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside some of your larger bones. Bone marrow aspiration and bone marrow biopsy can show whether your bone marrow is healthy and making normal amounts of blood cells. Doctors use Continue reading

Homeward
By the time I woke up this morning J had already packed up the trailer and kids just needed to wake up. Cereal down the hatch and it’s off to the dump station – which was a line. We didn’t end up leaving until 10:30am and arrived home at 1:00pm. Laundry, dinner then L and Continue reading
About Me
Hello, my name is Nina. I am a mother, wife, daughter and friend. I am lover of country music, & 80’s love ballad. I love me some karaoke! I identify as hot mess mom. I get it wrong, all the time. On the rare occasions I get it right? Even I’m shocked.
I am a working professional in the field of Compliance. I am mother two, daughter to immigrant parents, wife to a “redneck” – and proud of it, sister-in-law to the two most incredible human beings I have ever met and a niece that is just so cool but doesn’t know it.
I work too hard and play too little. I’ve always focus on the wrong thing and never quite sure if I’m ever enough. I grew up on the East Coast and was a latchkey kid in the 80’s and 90’s – I dodged the sketchy people on the walk home and tried not to end up on a milk carton.
I went to a very privileged Boarding School on the East Coast and college after that. (So yeah that’s exactly why this journal will be riddled with grammatical and spelling errors. On the days I feel good, I’ll type it out. On the days I don’t feel good it’ll be voice to text. I can not be held liable for the things Siri puts in as my “voice”. ) Graduated on a Friday and started Fleet Bank on a Saturday. I hustled my way through the midnight shift at DHL and hustled and hustled and hustled. I knew nothing except the hustle. (As I said, I’m a hot mess mom).
