Time: 5:45am
Place: Walmart
Mission: Laugh
My morning started with a pick up at 5:45am to Walmart. Why would anyone get up tat early for Walmart? Because I’m neutropenic and it’s Walmart. Now I’m not knocking the WM. I love the WM and it’s one of my favorite places to go. However there are people there who wear their underwire on the OUTSIDE of their pants. So if I’m neutropenic and want to shop at the WM, it is an EARLY shopping trip. I could not have laughed harder with M “racing” (the motorized cart did NOT go fast) and beeping throughout the aisles. I got all the ingredients for J’s ceviche and drove around the aisles just looking at stuff. I haven’t been in a store since I started this cancer sh*t. We momentarily lost each other and instinctually drove on the outer lanes peering down each aisle. If only I would have “woooooo wooooo” I think she would have “kaaaaa kaaaaa” me. However I wonder if we would have been escorted out of WM for being crazy. Then again, I wear my underwear inside my pants. After we checked out and put our groceries away – it was race time. I was on the outside lane and M hugged the inside lane. We ensured there were no cars to run us over and we were gone. M took an early lead around the car, then I swept her in the final stretch. Hahaha. Best WM Day Ever!!
By the time I returned home, the kids were awake and looking for food. S and I looked for pancake mix – despite our best eyes we couldn’t find any. Pancakes from scratch it is. Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, Salt, Butter and Milk quickly turned in to some yummy pancakes. We got the bacon defrosted and into the oven. Prepped the scrambled eggs while the bacon was baking! S was an amazing chef. After breakfast, kids spent time with my parents while J and I spent some time together and headed to the ocean. We walked the pier and sat down when I got tired to just watch the waves. We caught a baby stingray in the shallow surf searching for food, another fish that was swimming around while people boogie boarded or splashed around. It was perfectly breezy with a side of chill and the sun was held back in the clouds – perfect weather.
Our neighbor had dropped off some beautiful flowers on our doorstep for me which go perfectly with a lavender plant that my sweet friend from Bunco dropped off for me with dinner on Friday. My Bunco ladies are incredible, COVID shut us down and we never got the gang back together unfortunately. When I first moved here I didn’t know anyone and was really lonely, the kids were still pretty young and I needed adult conversation. I’m not sure even how I got introduced to Bunco but meeting these ladies gave me a home base – every time we met it was 100% laughter.
J and I made ceviche, I washed cucumbers, tomatoes and sat down to look for a movie. He did the rest. I’ll correct myself. J made ceviche, I watched from the couch. I couldn’t find anything new that was worth the time to watch – so we went back to an oldie. John Wick. Good movie for Saturday afternoon, no brain power needed. 😋 I’m starting to fade and it’s that time now.

About Me
Hello, my name is Nina. I am a mother, wife, daughter and friend. I am lover of country music, & 80’s love ballad. I love me some karaoke! I identify as hot mess mom. I get it wrong, all the time. On the rare occasions I get it right? Even I’m shocked.
I am a working professional in the field of Compliance. I am mother two, daughter to immigrant parents, wife to a “redneck” – and proud of it, sister-in-law to the two most incredible human beings I have ever met and a niece that is just so cool but doesn’t know it.
I work too hard and play too little. I’ve always focus on the wrong thing and never quite sure if I’m ever enough. I grew up on the East Coast and was a latchkey kid in the 80’s and 90’s – I dodged the sketchy people on the walk home and tried not to end up on a milk carton.
I went to a very privileged Boarding School on the East Coast and college after that. (So yeah that’s exactly why this journal will be riddled with grammatical and spelling errors. On the days I feel good, I’ll type it out. On the days I don’t feel good it’ll be voice to text. I can not be held liable for the things Siri puts in as my “voice”. ) Graduated on a Friday and started Fleet Bank on a Saturday. I hustled my way through the midnight shift at DHL and hustled and hustled and hustled. I knew nothing except the hustle. (As I said, I’m a hot mess mom).
