I didn’t think I’d have the opportunity to be apart of S’s birthday let along celebrate a portion with her. That was an amazing blessing.
Grandpa and I got to the park at 6am while it was nice and cool out to stake our claim. Grandpa thought we were cray to stake it at 6am. As we exited the car, another two people with their dogs and blankets were also eyeing the gazebo area. I looked at Grandpa and said “Hope you’re able to beat feet!” Grandpa had no problem making it to the gazebo before the other people! it’s first come first serve…has a pool and bathroom. And it’s free. So yea…people hoof it to stake their claim.

The remaining decorations were all on the ladies. They started showing up around 9 and by that time I had enough left in my tank to wave and it was time for home. I was disappointed not to see the ladies longer but my body was saying nope. My body hurts a lot and my legs are not as powerful as before. There is a lot of muscle loss making climbing the stairs an intense workout. I’m spent after the stairs. I thought those pains and aches would have taken a vacation too. Nope.
The party seem to have gone off without issue. The obstacle guy tried to shorten my time to 3 hours and M promptly responded, “Nope it’s 4 hours we are repeat customers!” The setup guys came back a few seconds later “4 hours is no problem.” I giggled to myself. M always has that on lock. There were enough party favors, enough cupcakes, pizza and drinks for the kiddos. Nothing else mattered. They had a blast. My BIL/SIL drove down to be apart of S’s birthday and to see me. It doesn’t get better than that. My cup runneth over. Just sitting with A in silence is a recharging.
After the party the J and B headed out to the store for something yummy. They always do. H-Mart and 2 Rednecks … it’s a funny sight. There was a security guard that followed the guys through the aisles and keeping a close eye on them. Rednecks in the wild. I get it. It’s a rare specimen down here. 😆 Thankfully they made it out! Whew!
It was decided going to a restaurant on a Saturday night would not be in my best interest but staying home while everyone else celebrated seemed sad as well. So J and B BBQ’d up a string of chicken, asparagus with a side of rice and garlic bread! It smelled delicious. Food doesn’t taste like much these days. Texture wise: I’ve got the mushy, crunchy… etc. Flavor wise: Things don’t have much flavor. Sometimes bitter but most of time it just plain. Like boiled chicken. It’s there…it’s plain…but there’s not a whole lot of taste.
This week will be a follow up mammogram and waiting for City of Hope to set up the HLA sampling. I have to help get some home logistics done. Everything is on a slower pace. Especially my movements. Nothing is fast but in some ways. That’s okay! Slow and steady.
